Why don't I see the names of songs?

iTunes uses the Internet site CDDB to look up the names of songs and albums. You must have an Internet connection to use this feature. If your Internet connection uses a proxy server, make sure the proxy settings in the Internet pane of System Preferences are correct.

To look up CD info at CDDB:

Insert a CD, then choose Get CD Track Names from the Advanced menu.

If iTunes can't connect to CDDB, or if the CDDB database has no information about the CD, the names will show as Track 1, Track 2, and so on. You can enter your own song information by choosing Get Info from the File menu.
